Inter Faith Relations will be focus of next Anglican Communion webinar on the Lambeth CallsĀ

The Lambeth Call on Inter Faith Relations will be the focus of an Anglican Communion webinar this September.Ā Ā The Lambeth Call was shared by the bishops of the Lambeth Conference in 2022. It underscores the Anglican Communion’s commitment to peacemaking, religious freedom, and collaboration with people of different faiths for the common good. It encourages Anglican leaders to foster friendships across religious traditions, work together on pressing global challenges, and support those facing religious persecution. Ā

The upcoming discussions will further reflect on how Anglicans can live out their mission in diverse and complex interfaith contexts. The webinar panel will include members of the Anglican Communion Inter Faith Commission, and others that work in inter faith ministry.

Speaking about the importance of Inter Faith Relations, Bishop Jo Wells who will co-host the Lambeth Call webinar said: ā€œInter Faith dialogue is a gift that has enriched my own faith and witness precisely because it’s been an opportunity for learning and challenge from others. Most often it’s a gift that starts from some conversation with a neighbour or colleague – not something formal or starchy – yet can end up with surprising friendship and even new adventure. Especially at a time when conflict and division seem so dominant around our world, I commend this as an opportunity for Christians to reflect on other faiths, deepen their own, and respond in collaboration with others for the sake of the common good.ā€Ā

Webinar contributors include:Ā

  • The Rt Revd Danald Jute – Chair of the Inter Faith Commission and bishop of the Diocese of Kuching in Church of the Province of Southeast Asia.Ā
  • Suvojit Mondal – Programme Director in the Church of Bangladesh.Ā
  • Abigail Lizzi – Lay Reader and the representative of Inter Faith affaires in the Diocese of Argentina.Ā
  • Canon Andrew Smith – Director of Inter Faith Relations for the Bishop of Birmingham & Secretary to the Anglican Communion Inter Faith Commission. Ā
  • Louisa Mojela – a supporter of the Diocese of Lesotho and Lay representative to the Anglican Consultative Council. Ā Louisa was founder and Group CEO of WIPHOLD investment company.
