The Lambeth Conference 2020 will be based at the University of Kent in Canterbury (UKC).
The campus is set in 350 acres of parkland overlooking the city and its historic cathedral.
Accommodation has been significantly upgraded since 2008. Double and single rooms will be available. All are en-suite. Accommodation is full-board – all meals are included in the conference ticket and are served at several locations around the campus. Delegates will be able to use campus facilities including a leisure centre, gymnasium and squash courts.
For anyone wishing to explore, the city centre is about five minutes away by bus or taxi; walking takes about 20 minutes.
Conference facilities at UKC
Bishops will have use of a wide range of facilities at the UKC. The university is planning to redevelop and extend an existing sports building on the campus so that it can be used as the plenary venue for the Lambeth Conference.
A range of other buildings will also be available for break-out groups, Bible studies, prayer, and worship.
While the bulk of the Conference will take place at the UKC, some events will take place at Canterbury Cathedral – the mother church of the Anglican Communion; and at Lambeth Palace – the official London residence and offices of the Archbishops of Canterbury.
One of the purposes of the Lambeth Conference is to equip bishops and their spouses for ministry; and there will be an extensive Lambeth Conference Marketplace featuring stalls from mission agencies and other resource providers, from books to vestments; and from music to reports to help do this.
Full details of the Lambeth Conference Marketplace will be available closer to the event.
