The Design Group is responsible for advising the Archbishop of Canterbury about the design of the Lambeth Conference programme and the methods by which that programme is implemented.
The group is international and has been meeting twice a year for the last few years. Its members were appointed by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
The Design Group 2008 is chaired by The Most Revd Sir Ellison Pogo, KBE, Archbishop of Melanesia & Bishop of Central Melanesia, Church of Melanesia.
Other members are:
Also in attendance at group meetings are Ms Sue Parks, Lambeth Conference Manager (and other conference staff as necessary), The Rev Kenneth Kearon, Secretary General of the Anglican Communion Office and secretary to the Lambeth Conference, and The Rev Andrew Norman from Lambeth Palace. Time is always set aside to discuss the work with the Archbishop.
At the Design Group’s last meeting in December, it identified topics and themes that will need to be addressed at the Lambeth Conference, drew up a day-by-day schedule for the duration of the conference and a rough daily timetable. Details of these can be found on the Programme page.
The group will meet again in November 2007.
