Lambeth Conference 2008 Blog

The Lambeth Conference office was occupied with one task for much of last week : updating the records of all our bishops' (and their spouses') names and contact details. Not much fun but certainly necessary!

The Anglican Communion office has a large database through which we had to trawl, and then compare its details to the 'contacts' pages of the various websites for different provinces and dioceses. There are between 800 and 900 bishops in the Anglican Communion, so all of this work was no insignificant undertakiing.

It all would have been a bit easier if provincial and diocesan websites displayed the same contact details for any given bishop (!!) and if one of those sources could be relied upong to correspond to what our office had been told! No such luck, in most cases.

Still, mustn't complain. We'll get there in the end. And it's all in a good cause.
