After a successful visit to Canterbuy last week, David and I have more or less finalised which rooms on the University of Kent campus will be needed for the Lambeth Conference. Almost all of them!
The largest conference sessions will take place in a huge Big Top that will be installed on one of the campus car parks. The Spouses' Conference will transform one sports hall into a meeting room and the marketplace will take over the other.
We also need 1,500 bedrooms (!), about 100 small rooms for bible studies and a variety of larger rooms for seminars, workshops, talks and expanded groups. And, of course, a summer conference in England requires lots of green space for walking, talking and relaxing in. Thankfully, the university supplies all the above!
On Saturday, I will be meeting with the Spouses' Implementation Group at Lambeth Palace to finalise more of the plans for the Spouses' Conference.
Sue has just returned from a good time in Congo, meeting priests and people. We look forward to seeing their bishops at Lambeth.
