The Report is the work of the Inter-Anglican Theological and Doctrinal Commission which comprises theologians and church leaders who themselves represent the diversities of the Anglican Communion. Their task was to respond to the call of the Lambeth Conference of 1988 to consider in some depth the meaning and nature of communion
The International Anglican Youth Network (IAYN) were able to gather together Provincial Youth Officers and Young Adult representatives, a total of 138 participants,from 33 Provinces (including the United Churches of Bangladesh and North India) and from 47countries for a programme in the United Kingdom in 1997.
The international and ecumenical academy of liturgical scholars. Societas Liturgica, meets every two years. Originally European, it has now become a global organization. In 1983 Anglicans attending the congress of Societas in Vienna met together as a caucus. Their conversations led to a resolve to meet more regularly, at subsequent similar occasions etc..
Christian engagement with people of other faiths goes back to the very origins of Christianity. The Christian faith was born in a plural environment and had to relate not only to Judaism and to "classical" Graeco-Roman religion but also to the various "mystery" cults of the Mediterranean world as well as state religions such as Zoroastrianism in the Persian Empire.

The Lambeth Conference of 1988 came at a critical time for the coherence and unity of the Anglican Communion as a whole. The bishops found themselves facing the imminent possibility of one of the Provinces ordaining a woman to the episcopate, and had to address the challenge of how to maintain the highest degree of communion with one another and how to strengthen their commitment to one another despite differences in principle and practice
